Camp Sunshine inspires hope in families affected by life-threatening childhood illness through our unique, supportive program at its beautiful campus on Maine’s Sebago Lake.
When a child faces serious illness, the entire family is affected. Camp Sunshine’s program is offered year-round and has the distinction of having been designed to serve the entire family in a retreat model. Since its inception in 1984, Camp Sunshine has offered comfort, hope, and support to over 60,000 ill children, siblings and parents from all 50 US states and 27 countries.
Camp Sunshine relies on more than 2,500 volunteers annually, many of whom return year after year. The volunteers serve as camp counselors, and work in many areas of the program, including food service, arts and crafts, waterfront, and a variety of other activities. The majority of volunteers stay onsite and are provided with similar accommodations and meals as attending families. We welcome individual volunteers as well as groups of all types – family, friends, workplace, community organizations, etc. To learn more about volunteering, please visit https://www.campsunshine.org/volunteer.

Congratulations to Migis Lodge for their recognition by the New England Inns and Resorts Association with the “Master of New England Innkeeping Lifetime Achievement Award!”
Joan and Tim Porta have run the inn for 44 years! While Joan’s husband Tim is now in assisted living, Joan is winding down her career, and her son Jed is managing the Lodge.
In her article in the December 29, 2023 Issue of the Lakes Region Weekly, Mikayla Patel quotes Joan, “We’re so lucky to have a job where you make people happy. What’s more gratifying than that? The land is sacred and precious. We don’t feel like we own it, but rather it’s in our care for now. We do our best to share it with people and keep it as preserved as possible.”
Jed was also quoted: “Migis Lodge has been a labor of love for my family. The longevity and success we’ve achieved are a testament to the warm and welcoming environment my parents have fostered.” Congratulations to Migis Lodge and the Porta family on this amazing achievement!

The new system, called the Maine Tax Portal, allows taxpayers and tax professionals to file and pay state taxes, check on refunds and reimbursements, set up payment plans and more, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Maine Revenue Service is offering free, live training webinars on how to use the Maine Tax Portal through April 11, 2024.
