RECREATION

Whether you are looking for an active outdoor vacation or a peaceful family retreat, the Sebago Lakes region offers something for everyone. If you like to hike, bike, paddle a canoe or kayak, swim, sail, fish, run races, play golf or tennis, go motorboating or snowmobiling or hit the trails on an ATV, there are plenty of outdoor opportunities. In fact, part of the fun of a visit to Maine and the Sebago Lakes area is that you never know what you’ll find around the next corner.

When the weather is warm and sunny, go for a hike to a spectacular view, rent a boat for the day, stroll around a charming village, or sunbathe on one of our lakeside beaches. Enjoy a picnic at a scenic park, go berry-picking or explore the network of back roads that locals favor. When the day is cool or rainy, take a drive around the lake and stop to explore local museums, the Maine Wildlife Park, unique craft and gift shops and so much more. Enjoy local festivals nearly every weekend featuring great local food, midway fun, and entertainment. Night time holds a wonderful array of things to do in the Lakes Region …dining, live music, drive-in movies, summer stock theatre or just mingling with the throngs on the busy Naples Causeway. Whatever you do, you'll find that this is a place where lasting memories are made.

The Sebago Lake area is well-known in New England as a hub for all kinds of boating. Launch your own craft at several points around Maine’s second largest lake or rent canoes, kayaks, wave runners, fishing boats or a large pontoon. You can even take a ride in a floatplane for an unforgettable Lakes Region experience. If you want to leave the navigating to someone else, climb aboard an authentic paddleboat for a leisurely cruise on Long Lake.

In other seasons, the pace of activities may slow down, but there is no lack of things to do in the Sebago Lakes Region. Fall visitors love our brilliant foliage, pumpkin and apple-picking, fly-fishing, agricultural fairs, harvest parties and end-of-summer sales. Winter visitors enjoy Seasons Greetings events, ice fishing derbies, winter carnivals, snowmobiling and community suppers. Spring visitors look forward to Maine Maple Sunday, the Naples Blues Festival, car shows, un-crowded golf courses, and ideal conditions for outdoor sports and recreation.

While many of our visitors come with the idea of spending most of their time in, on or near the water, they soon discover how much more there is to see and do.
